TTCRD NEWS==Please Read!!

Most of you all know that this magazine was created by both myself and Marti on a plane ride home from CHA (Craft & Hobby Association) show in California over 2 years ago.  We were both tired of seeing the same things in all the craft magazines and seeing old products that had come out the year before.  So we got to talking and decided that we would both like to try to create something fresh and new that appealed to everyone and had a little bit of everything in it.  And that is how Through the Craftroom Door mini-magazine began.

It has been a total labor of love for both Marti and I as we never drew a paycheck from the magazine but enjoyed creating something from the ground up that we thought everyone would enjoy.  We labored over each issue making sure it had all the elements we ourselves were craving from magazines and putting in projects and articles we thought would interest everyone.  Along the way life of course has a way of changing the game plan and Marti and I both found ourselves becoming increasingly stressed about getting the magazine done every two months.  I had started traveling with my Copic classes and my CMC Classroom took more and more of my time along with my Design team work.  Marti has a toddler and multiple things that she was trying to accomplish and we were both looking for some balance.  So as the New Year 2012 dawned we discussed where the magazine was going and what our roles were going to be and how the year might play out.  After a few discussions we both decided that neither one of us had the time anymore to devote to the magazine….at least not the kind of time it really needed.  I had been feeling guilty that I just never had the time to work on the site, the articles or to really promote it like it needs.  I truly believe that the magazine can become something great, something that neither one of us could dream of….with the right person leading the helm.  Someone that could devote a lot of time to it, baby it and make it what it truly can be.

So with that being said we found someone that will be taking the magazine over, someone that we both trust and someone that will give it the time and dedication it really needs.  And that person is Colleen Holmes, owner of the OutLawz Group and friend and past-DT sister of ours.  She is super excited about taking it over, has a ton of new and fresh ideas and is willing to devote the time to make it into something FANTASTIC.    She will officially be the owner of the magazine as of April 1, 2012!

For you all what does that mean?  You will still get your issues for the remainder of your subscriptions of course…if you choose to renew at the end of that then that will of course be your choice.  But nothing will change for you all…your magazine will still go out every two months digitally along with a special Holiday issue this year.  BUT you will see new ideas, articles, advertisers and more in each issue and you will see the NING site becoming more active with more input from YOU and others.  That’s the most exciting part to see all the NEW things that Colleen has in store for the magazine.  And Marti and I will not be going away fully…I will be doing a fun Alcohol-Marker column in every issue and Marti will do some things in there as well.  And of course we will both be helping Colleen making a smooth transition over the next month so she can get started on her new journey with you all.  The only major thing that will change for you all will be the email address for contacting the magazine and that will go up on the NING site and in the next issues of the magazine so you know who and where to contact for any questions and information.  Melanie LaBellewill also be staying on as the magazine’s Challenge Blog DT Leader and Coordinator and we thank her IMMENSELY for helping us with that and creating such a great blog for the magazine. 

Marti and I would like to thank you ALL for supporting the magazine the past two years and going along on this journey with us.  We could’ve never done it all without you and we appreciate you all for helping us with that.  We hope you stick around past this year with Colleen, support her and the new journey that the magazine will be taking…I promise you it will be FUN, FABULOUS and FANTASTIC.  So please welcome Colleen to the magazine family and again thank you all so much!!
